Privacy Policy

Dad Alert is a private, single-patient family caregiving app. This policy says plainly what happens to the data it holds. There is no fine print.

What data Dad Alert holds

• Health episode logs the family records: blood pressure readings, pulse, symptoms, timestamps, and episode outcomes.
• Health records read from the patient's own chart with his consent, through his health system's patient portal (MyChart, by Epic): vitals, lab results, medications, conditions, visit notes and reports, allergies, and care team. This access is read-only. Dad Alert never writes to the medical record.
• Notes, settings, and messages the authorized family members add.

Where it lives

• All data is stored on a single private server located in the United States, operated by the patient's family. It stays there indefinitely so the family and the patient's doctors keep a complete history.
• Connections are encrypted with HTTPS everywhere. Health record access tokens and health data are encrypted at rest on the server.

Who can see it

• Access is limited to the family caregivers the patient authorizes. Each person uses a registered device, and changes require an additional password.
• The patient's dashboard includes a page listing exactly who has access, and basic access records are kept (dashboard logins and each health record pull).

The one outside service

Health data is sent to Anthropic's Claude API solely to generate guidance for the patient and his family, and for no other purpose. No other third party receives any data.

What never happens

• No advertising of any kind.
• No sale of data, ever.
• No sharing with third parties beyond the single purpose stated above.

Export and deletion

• The patient (or an authorized caregiver acting for him) may request a complete export of everything Dad Alert holds, and will receive it.
• The patient may request full deletion at any time. When the account is closed, all data is deleted with no retention.
